Stop at a stone wall nearby and get a closer look at the river’s shape and how it flows. Also notice that there are different temperatures in the river depending on what time of year it’s flowing. Dick’s Creek FallsFrom this point, proceed to make a left turn along the Dick’s Creek. This path gradually makes its way to the Chattahoochee River’s northern bank before crossing it. At a short section, the path swerves left as it passes a grist mill. Take the path at the bottom of the stairs and move straight ahead to a path that turns left and start descending to a Forest Service marker. Make a right turn from here and climb up to a viewing deck where you can immediately afford a view of the Chattahoochee River’s drainage area. Dick’s Creek FallsCross the watching bridge and approach t the river’s edge at the same time as the bridge below it. Having reached the river, the trail follows the flock of geese towards the Chattahoochee River. As you move closer to the water, you will begin to notice the tree roots and some Bur oak trees along the way. Also, the moss covered wood pile further adds to the rustic feel of the area. Set forth to the left along the river and pass by a brown fishing pier on the right. Dick’s Creek FallsCross the rushing creek and come to a refreshing stop where you can enjoy a short rest break. Move past this and approach a set of stone steps to a paved area where you can turn left and move down the path to a Public Use Area. Make a left turn from here and move down the path to a couple of settings before passing an old quarry and some tyre rubber mats. Dick’s Creek FallsCross the rhino bridge and approach a rock wall where the path leads to a large tree. Make a turn to the left from here and climb up the tree until you reach a ladder and then start to make an ascent up the other side. The path curves left as it gets closer to the top and passes a narrow rail and then eventually makes to the top of the falls. Highlights of this trip up are the boulders and roots of the Giant Sequoia Whitewater system that stretch the whole way from the upper falls to the lower one. Dick’s Creek FallsMake a quick ascent down the side of the falls and approach the top of the lower falls. A short distance after this you will encounter a 40 ft deep pool which is reached by climbing up the side of the lower falls via a set of iron rungs. This offers a cool and isolated change to the lower falls until the top of the rope reaches a series of 15 ft sluice barriers which close the access from the public. The pool at the top of the falls looks inviting but it is shallow at the time of peak visitors. Nevertheless, a visit to this pool is a definitely worth it for a memorable experience in Georgia. Just be prepared to get wet from time to time as the water can be high and temperature can be hot so take along a couple of mosquito nets. Aside from this, it is important to also take along enough drinking water to keep yourself hydrated. As you go up the top of the falls, you will get a spectacular view of the Atlanta metro area. Make sure to have a look out for the descending paths of the frozen river on your way to the top of the falls. It is also a great place to take a break and enjoy the environment. From the top of the falls, the initial 100 ft stretch to the top is as far as the public pathway goes. Public access leads to a dirt road which ends at the base of the falls. The top of the falls is a 120 ft wide pool which tumbles down to a ledge below. A group of people can secure a table and a grill on this ledge. Popular options are to either have lunch or to enjoy the waterfall, ice cold beer. As you walk to the base of the falls, you will notice a number of people who are waiting for you.
