How much do you value education? The education system is theievement because only after you have the degree of education that is required to be successful in business will you be successful in life. Or how much do you value your life? The government is now using excuses not to honor our commitment to health and nutrition. We are making more people unhealthy and more obese with each passing day and all this through medications we cannot metabolize. Could this be the wake up call you have been waiting for? 8% of our sodium intake comes from a diet of fast food. The American Heart Association has declared an obesity epidemic, and this is possibly the most dangerous of all. Did you know that the FDA now allows processed foods to have larger margins of safety than previously allowed for? The head of the CDC even said, “We’re making good inroads against obesity, and some of the data we’re using to justify that are not data about people who are already overweight.” Did you know the USA’s obesity rate has increased by 20% since the mid 1980s? And we still haven’t recovered from the depression of the 70’s and 80’s? There is no mystery to our eating habits. We have become complacent about what is in our food supply. We come to rely on our local grocery store produces to be of good quality, and we hope that when the season comes around, that local food will be available locally and ready to be harvested. We put little value in the idea of importing from other countries, we buy hamburger instead of fish, and in many instances we develop a preference for pre processed foods because they are quick and easy to have available. This leads to a lack of variety in our diet, with little appreciation for our health or the health of our family. Wouldn’t it be nice to find a cure for our food supply? What would happen if we could grow all the food we ate inside our greenhouse all year long? What would happen if we prevented the run off of children from low income families? What would happen if we encouraged the professional delivery of our food from the farm to the customer’s table? What would happen if we transferred the thinking of growing to the large scale production of our food? Could this really happen? Maybe just might. When you understand how food is raised today in our society, and how farmed, you begin to understand why we are looking for a Revolution in how we handle our food supply. There really is a very good reason for wanting to grow our own vegetables and fruits. Right now you can grow vegetables in the middle of the grocery store and they could be 10 feet tall and they would still taste good. You can grow tomatoes in the middle of the winter in your living room. Can you imagine the potential of produce shipped from the farm to the customer’s table? Commercially grown fruits and vegetables are often picked before they are ripe so that they can withstand the long shipping routes. This means that the fruit and vegetables are often picked before they are fully ripe and sometimes before they even leave the farm. Do you know what it takes to get fruits and vegetables to taste and look their best? It is a process that takes time to ensure that the produce meets the expectations of consumers. Commercial growers are forced to resort to using artificial means to maintain the quality of their products.
